Creating art is more than an act of expression—it is an extension of faith, music, and purpose. Originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, and now based in Garner, North Carolina, K. Caprease has had a lifelong connection to art. For many years, graphite drawing was her primary creative outlet. In 2020, during the pandemic, she picked up a paintbrush—and never put it down.

A self-taught artist, K. Caprease developed a deep connection with abstract painting and the freedom it provides. Working primarily in acrylic, with explorations in mixed media, she creates intuitive, expressive works in which color, movement, texture, and emotion come together without requiring a single interpretation.

“I love abstract art because you see what you see. Tomorrow, you may look at the same painting and discover something completely different.”

Faith is at the heart of her creative process. Gospel and contemporary classical music often fill her studio as she paints, allowing her background as a professional singer and her visual artistry to intersect. For K. Caprease, the creative process becomes a form of worship—an opportunity to use the gifts God has given her to uplift and connect with others.

Her journey also led her back to the classroom. After praying for increase in this area of her life, she encountered a message that challenged her thinking: successful artists understand their foundations. Inspired to strengthen both her natural ability and her knowledge of the arts, she returned to school to pursue a Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Visual Arts.

K. Caprease believes that everyone has been given unique gifts and that when those gifts are used to honor God and positively impact others, they take on a greater purpose. That belief lives within every K. Caprease creation. Her hope is not to tell viewers what they must see, but to invite them into the work—to discover their own meaning, experience their own emotions, and perhaps see something new each time they return.

Above all, she hopes they leave feeling uplifted.
